HOW DO YOU REMOVE KERATIN HAIR EXTENSIONS?
Hair extensions such as keratin can last up to 6 months, especially if you follow maintenance steps with your professional hairdresser. Your natural hair will remain as healthy as before the application, provided you also perform the final removal step in the salon. Removing keratin bond extensions at home can be the worst choice for your hair, so ask your stylist about removing them as well. Your hair will thank you forever!
How to remove keratin hair extensions
The removal of hair extensions, just like the application, should be done by professionals. This step requires professional tools, specific products and, above all, experienced hands!
- Start by combing the hair with a fine-toothed comb to remove any knots. Do not wash hair before removing hair extensions.
- Select an extension to remove. Start at the first row at the nape of the neck and work your way through the entire head.
- Place a folded paper towel under the extension you want to remove to prevent the removal fluid from getting onto the client's scalp.
- Pour 2 or 3 drops of removal fluid (such as SEISETA RV) onto the keratin bond and let it sit for 4 or 5 seconds.
- Use removal pliers (such as SEISETA PM02) to gently press on the wet keratin and break the bond.
- Hold the strand of the client's natural hair between your fingers and slide the extension off.
- Repeat these steps for all other extensions and remove them one by one.
After removing all hair extensions, wash hair with Clarifying Daily Shampoo to remove any keratin or removal residue.
