Things you need to know about hair extensions

Where do hair extensions actually come from?

50% of all hair for hair extensions on the global market today comes from India. 40% consists of hair of Asian origin and only 10% of hair from the rest of the world.

What are the qualities of hair for hair extensions?

There are different hair qualities with different characteristics: the quantities available, the structure of the hair, the possibilities of treatment and use and the adaptability to the customer's natural hair.

What are the characteristics of Russian hair?

The hair that comes from Asian Russia is the rarest type in the world. It is characterized by a structure with a round shape, is silky and very shiny. This hair is very easy to comb and maintain in everyday life.

What are the characteristics of Asian hair?

Asian hair has a very different structure than European hair. The inner diameter of the trunk is much larger, making it quite heavy. This type of hair is difficult to manage because it hardly takes shape and always remains straight. As a result, it does not blend well with Caucasian hair and does not add volume to the hair, making it unsuitable for making hair extensions.

What are the characteristics of Indian hair?

Indian hair is available in the market in large quantities and the quality is excellent. The hair structure is very strong and makes any form of treatment possible. It adapts perfectly to the natural customer's hair and gives it a lot of volume.

What is Remy Human Hair?

The quality of REMY is characterized by the fact that the cuticle layer points in the same direction, just like your own hair. This means you always retain the natural strength of the hair, creating different colors and effects and for perfect hair extensions that give volume and mass to the hair. REMY quality also provides an extremely pleasant feeling to the touch and more softness when brushing.

What are the properties of NON REMY hair?

The NON REMY quality is typical of hair that is collected in large quantities and whose inner cuticle is naturally misaligned. Among women in countries of the so-called "Third World" it is common to save the hair left in the brushes after combing in order to resell it. The roots and tips of these hairs become mixed together, leading to an irreversible change in the natural orientation of the cuticle and thus to tangles and knots in the hair. To tackle this problem, the hair is treated with very aggressive acids that attack the cuticle, severely weakening the hair and making it look dull, dry, frizzy, full of split ends and ugly. To hide this damage and improve the appearance of the hair, it is coated with products containing silicone, which fill in the parts of the cuticle that are not affected by the acids. However, the silicone disappears after 3-4 hair washes with shampoo and the hair becomes just as dry as in the beginning, completely matte and knotted. For these reasons, the quality of NON REMY cannot be used for the manufacture of hair extensions.

How do you choose hair extensions for your customer?

Advice is a very important moment that should not be underestimated. It is useful to coordinate with the customer so that it is clear what she wants to achieve by applying hair extensions: a total extension, a thickening, a color effect or highlights.

A consultation should focus on collecting clear and accurate information so that the client is confident and enthusiastic about the work at the end of the application. The pros and cons of all application methods should be explained so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs. And it is good to make sure that the customer knows how to care for her hair extensions after they have been applied.
